A critical exploration of social inequities in the mental health recovery literature

3 Feb 2011

"This scoping review was part of a larger project, 'A Critical Exploration of Social Inequities in Mental Health Recovery', which was envisioned by the Centre for the Study of Gender, Social Inequities and Mental Health (CGSM) and made possible by funding from the Canadian Institutes for Health Research (CIHR). The purpose of this project was to facilitate and support the establishment of a collaboration of key experts and stakeholders from the field of mental health including decision makers, service providers, and service users interested in developing new conceptualizations of mental health recovery that a re grounded in principles of citizen engagement (i.e., principles that value the participation of people living with mental health issues) and that recognize the impact of social and structural inequities on mental health and recovery"--P. 4.
