Special Collections

These are collections of titles or series from leading Canadian publishers in specialist fields. Several collections are now available, and new collections will be added regularly.

  • All titles are available in fulltext online. See table below for details on each collection.
  • MARC records available

Pricing for each collection is set by the publisher. Like all desLibris subscriptions, is geared to library type.

To add a special collection to your library site, follow these steps:

Current Library Member

Login with your Admin password and go to your Library Dashboard. Using the Manage Account module, select the “Collections” tab and “Add Collection.” This will take you to “Account Upgrades” which will show the Collections available with pricing, allowing you to select one or more. In the next step you will see final pricing and tax extensions. Accepting this will take you to the final step for invoice generation.

New Library Member

Go to Register, enter your order for a Library Membership. On Step 4 of the Registration sequence, you will find Special Collection options and pricing. You may select all or none.

Access to titles in Special collections ordered is activated on your library account immediately upon completion of registration or upgrade order.

The Irwin Law Collection

The entire catalogue of Canadian legal publisher Irwin Law is available through the Canadian Electronic Library. Over 220 titles published from 1997 to date are currently included in the collection, and new titles and updated editions are added to the collection as they appear. 

The Ulysses Travel Guide Library

Canada’s leading travel publisher has released its entire collection of online travel guides as a CEL collection. With more than 200 titles available now, the collection is regularly updated with new titles as they are issued.

The Grey House Directories Collection

Grey House, Canada’s most authoritative publisher of directory information, has released six of its key directories for inclusion in the Canadian Electronic Library. Included in the collection are:

  • Canadian Almanac and Directory
  • Associations in Canada
  • Canadian Environmental Guide
  • Financial Post Directory of Directors
  • Canadian Venture Capital
  • Financial Services Canada
  • Governments Canada
  • Libraries Canada

This collection offers an effective way of making this popular content conveniently available to all library users with no wait time. The collection includes back issues of the titles covered for the period 2011 to date.
