The text of the Ordinance is not used; the provisions of the para- graph are justified in indefinite terms: ". according to permission and command most graciously granted by His Majesty the King." This indi- cated that the paragraph was written before the Royal Ordinance; this entire formulation sounds more like the justifications in a representation to the king previous to a decree and the drawin [...] In the minutes of the meeting of the General Board of Directors, nothing is said about work on the Order, either its beginning or its progress, and no sketches of the Order exist in the various archives. [...] Only the names of the members of the General Board of Directors and the Board of Managers are printed under the long text of the Order. [...] Shortly after the issuance of the Order and the Ordinance on the Inspector's right of examination, the Missions- kollegium was informed of the Ordinance and, strange as it seems, of only an extract from the Order. [...] In return, the Missionskollegium asked the Board of Managers to instruct the Inspectors to "render assistance to the missionaries when they are re- quired to appeal to them in distress." This the Trade agreed to, but only "in so far as it may appear to serve the best interests of the Trade, or to maintain order."
