Federal emergency response plan : FERP

The Minister of Public Safety authorized the development of the FERP pursuant to the Department of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness Act and the Emergency Management Act. [...] Federal departmental representatives: • may be required on a full-time basis throughout the incident, or only at specific times, depending upon the nature of the emergency; • may need to support some or all of the primary functions of the FERMS based on the requirements of the response; and • must be responsible and capable of responding expeditiously to the needs of the Federal Government through [...] The FERMS provides the mechanisms and processes to coordinate the structures, the capabilities, and the resources of federal government institutions, non-governmental organizations and the private sector into an integrated emergency response for all hazards. [...] This section describes the key concepts related to the FERMS, including the federal governance structure, the federal response levels, the departmental roles, the primary functions of the FERMS, and the federal-regional component related to the FERMS. [...] In addition to the overall coordination of a federal emergency response, the Federal Coordinating Officer also: • supports the Minister’s leadership role pursuant to the Emergency Management Act; • provides policy direction to the Committee of Assistant Deputy Ministers; and • provides a leadership role within the Committee of Deputy Ministers as the Senior Official responsible for ensuring a coor
