[...] Report on the Feasibility of Establishing a High-Speed Rail Transit System in Alberta 2.0 SUMMARY OF COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATIONS The Standing Committee on Alberta’s Economic Future makes the following recommendations with respect to the feasibility of establishing a high-speed rail transit system in Alberta. [...] Given the continued population growth and strong economic performance in the province over the past decade, the Government of Alberta again turned its attention to HSR with the idea that enhancing the transportation linkage between the two largest population centres in the province, Edmonton and Calgary, and the communities in between would yield economic benefits. [...] Report on the Feasibility of Establishing a High-Speed Rail Transit System in Alberta HSR system would lead to increased economic development in Alberta, the Government may consider the establishment of an HSR system as a means of addressing increased traffic and congestion on the Queen Elizabeth II Highway, if the traffic level estimates are accurate.
