[...] This Plan will be periodically reviewed by external experts to ensure it stays relevant and continues to improve and advance our fundamental scientific understanding of the actual and potential impacts of oil sands development on the environment, and to identify and address present and future stakeholder issues and concerns. [...] Implementation of the Plan will be founded on the principle of inclusion of Traditional Ecological Knowledge, and the training and involvement of members of local communities in the actual monitoring activities. [...] The integration of the four components improves the capability to address hypothesis-driven questions related to current and projected reach-specific and regional impacts of oil sands developments on the aquatic and terrestrial environments.
