[...] Christopher Kim, Executive Director of the Canadian advocacy organization HanVoice, stated that the Commission of Inquiry on Human Rights in the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (COI) “found that some of the most egregious human rights violations reached the level of ‘crimes against humanity’… [and] urged the international community to 11 refer this situation to the International Criminal Cou [...] In November 2014, Canada co-sponsored a resolution in the UN General Assembly that took note of the COI’s report, urged North Korea to respect the human rights of its citizens and emphasized the need for accountability for human rights abuses.
