Accompanying the study of the glosses is an Appendix which contains the lexical glosses found in this Cambridge manuscript. [...] I gratefully acknowledge the financial assistance received from the University of British Columbia's Research Grant program, the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada, and the Canadian Federation for the Humanities. [...] Such an examination can show the scope of learning of the Anglo-Saxons, with the caveat, however, that the Anglo- Saxon glossator may have excerpted, let us say, an Isidorian quote not directly from the Etymologiarum libri but from the manuscript from which he copied the text.
