Nusser sent a signal to Gruppe Nord explaining the situation and requesting evacuation, and that evening the party abandoned the summer station and withdrew to a pre-arranged pick-up point on the outer coast to the west. [...] This move was a precaution against the ship being attacked from the air, since with the return of the sun and the melting of the snow it became more conspicuous (Selinger 2001). [...] Weisz and the rest of his me destroyed all the installations and scuttled the ship at anchor, then were evacuated by the same flying boat to Troms0 on the iyth. [...] Over the winter, the station was connected by a telephone cable to the emergency camp on Raudfjorden and an intermediate emergency depot was established in snow caves on the Andreebreen, and another at a trapper's hut on the shores of S0rdalensbukta. [...] The other members of the attacking group then opened fired on the German station with a machine gun, but the Germans stormed the machine gun and silenced it, and the Danes fled, abandoning the crippled machine gun, clothing and equipment (Selinger 2001).
