This paper, by Michael Fullan and Maria Langworthy, is the first in the series, and it addresses the issue of the new pedagogy, which is central to the future agenda. [...] Helping students to master the learning process; bringing greater visibility to that process; leveraging the power of peer teaching; connecting the learning to students’ interests and aspirations; and continuously analysing and evaluating learning progress and choosing learning strategies based on that analysis – all of this must become part of the core repertoire of our teachers’ expertise as the [...] Technology in the new model is pervasive and it is used to discover and master content knowledge and to enable the deep learning goals of creating and using new knowledge in the world. [...] Second, this model becomes manifest in the new learning partnerships that emerge between and among students and teachers when the learning process becomes the focal point for the mutual discovery, creation and use of knowledge. [...] The Past and Future of this Work The new pedagogies described in this report are part of a larger body of work that we are undertaking with a group of international colleagues and partners, collaborating to 1) provide greater clarity to what ‘deep learning’ means in practice; and 2) develop practical theory and evidence on how to implement this type of learning most effectively, and 3) to do this
