A bibliometric analysis of the knowledge utilization literature

The purpose of this technical report is to document the methods and broad findings of the project Mapping the field of knowledge utilization. [...] Structure of a Scientific Community In identifying the structure of a field‘s scientific community one comes to appreciate its relevance to: (1) increased understanding of the influence that the social structure of the field has 31,32 on the development of scientific ideas,. [...] This means that the structure of the scientific community influences the behaviour of individual scientists and the directions taken in future investigation, as well as affecting the growth and advancement of the field. [...] The specific outcomes include: 1. a refined domain map of the field 2. a description of the structure of the scientific community that studies knowledge utilization 3. enhanced communication among researchers and decision-makers by improving access to the relevant literature and identifying the structure of the scientific community 4. clear direction for future research in the field including dire [...] The University of Alberta libraries system was informed of the study and of our use of the library databases.
