GICs may affect the price of housing, the price of land and the returns on capital investments in general in Canada, and are therefore of great interest to the housing industry and Canadian consumers. [...] Appendix B provides a detailed description and listing of the GIC components and the basis for calculation for each of the 32 municipalities in the study. [...] Likewise, development charges may depend on the type of unit, the size of the lot, or the size of the dwelling. [...] As we will see in Chapter 4 of this report, this shift from the 25th to the 50th percentile in the definition of the dwellings makes comparison of the 2006 results with the earlier reports difficult. [...] The consistency in the scope and categorization of GICs between the present report and the 2002 version facilitates the comparison of results between these two years.
