[...] With the exception of Nunavut, the northern regions referred to here are somewhat different from those of the remaining Inuit land claim regions (Nunatsiavut in Labrador, Nunavik in northern Québec and the Inuvialuit region in the Northwest Territories). [...] Although some of this increase may have been real as indicated by the data for non-Inuit women, it was in part due to changes in the census questions over time and changes in the way in which they were answered.5 A major factor affecting labour market trends is the age structure of the population. [...] Participation rates for Inuit women were highest in the Northwest Territories while the rates for Labrador, northern Québec and Nunavut were approximately the same.
