'Through the release of this document, Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (ISED) is hereby initiating a consultation on releasing millimetre wave (mmWave) spectrum in the 28 GHz, 37-40 GHz and 64-71 GHz frequency bands to support the deployment of 5th generation (5G) wireless networks and systems. Comments are being sought on all aspects related to the release of this spectrum. After this consultation is completed and decisions are made, ISED will consult further on licensing policies and technical standards for radio apparatus in the relevant frequency bands'--Intent, p. 1.
