It is, however, intended to help teachers introduce their young writers to the importance of developing an awareness of their audience and to write with the intent of inviting their reader into the text via a consideration of our thinking brains. [...] It is the goal of Writ- ing Power to move beyond the “how to write” toward the “why we write,” and to introduce writers to the important, yet often forgotten, aspect of writing: the reader.
