I have provided a little POLITICAL AFFAIRS information on the main characters and bit players of this saga, and tried hard to keep the story light! I have also spent some time on our personal lives, to set the record straight from our perspective and to give, finally, pieces of the other side of the story. [...] The reader will have to forgive me in advance for providing my somewhat rosy perspective on the main character of the story, but then, my bias was widely known long before the publication of this book! In fact, I have had a little bit of fun in the writing of this, and have tried to keep things easy to read. [...] The focus of his speech is still clear in my mind, because the subject matter and the approach seemed to me long overdue, and I was excited that someone was finally going to try to take these ideas into the provincial political arena. [...] The headquarters of the Liberal Party of B. C. were joint offices for the provincial and federal wings, with the majority of the space and staff time allocated to the federal party. [...] The NRC was the fundraising wing of the federal Liberal Party in B. C. The volunteers who worked on the committee, to make sure that enough money was 5 POLITICAL AFFAIRS raised to maintain the offices and operational base of the party, were all players in Vancouver's corporate establishment.
