To promote capacity-building within the sexual and reproductive health sector, the Buddy Study research team has put together an inventive strategy for translating knowledge into action: (1) the publication and extensive dissemination of this report and related materials; (2) the creation of a series of Fact Sheets aimed at policy makers, practitioners, and youth for the purpose of generating disc [...] A secondary goal of the project was the exploration and contextualization of young heterosexual males' perceptions of their HIV risk-taking behaviours, responsibilities and roles in order to determine the factors that affect the sexual behaviours that make them and their sexual partners vulnerable to HIV infection. [...] This report will highlight the key themes and ideas which emerged during the course of the interviews and focus group discussions and subsequent analysis, culminating in the presentation of a series of recommendations for best practices. [...] Methodology and Approach The Buddy Study was designed with a view to exploring and contextualizing young heterosexual males' perceptions of their sexual behaviours, roles, and responsibilities, and to pinpoint specific barriers and gaps in sexual health decision-making amongst youth. [...] Laurene Rehman, as a response to contemporary conventions in HIV epidemiology, the rise in heterosexual transmission of HIV/AIDS among Canadian youth, and the overall lack of inclusion of sexually active heterosexual males in healthy sexuality interventions in the country.
