Enabling access to transportation : Usage trends in the BC Transit Ticket Asistance Program, 2008-2012

In the recent years, school counsellors and parents have been expressing to the Community Council the need to assist more low-income students with access to affordable transportation. [...] The CSPC, in collaboration with local non-profit agencies, BC Transit, and the Victoria Regional Transit Commission, is helping to respond to this need through the BC Transit Ticket Assistance Program. [...] The 2012-2013 list of member agencies is in Appendix A. The agencies track how clients use the tickets and passes and report back to the Council through a standardized form (Appendix B.) The objective of this report is to analyze the ticket usage trends of the member agencies, so we might better understand the transportation needs of low-income population using this program. [...] An analysis of ticket usage trends helps illustrate and understand the transportation needs of the low-income population in the community. [...] The survey was carried to learn ticket usage trends of the organizations, services they provide and to find out if the trends relates to the overall ticket usage pattern.
