In the spring of 2008, the Union of Nova Scotia Municipalities (UNSM), the Nova Scotia Association of Regional Development Authorities (NSARDA) and the Nova Scotia Chambers of Commerce (NSCoC) formed a committee to address these population issues in a meaningful and collaborative way. implemented several initiatives to promote the development of age-friendly communities, including the Age-Friendly Communities Committee – a partnership between the Department of Seniors and the UNSM – to examine ways of promoting age-friendly communities throughout Nova Scotia. [...] The Nova Scotia Youth Secretariat works to increase awareness of the needs and aspirations of youth and to increase support and services required by youth to make a successful transition to adulthood.
