There is growing recognition of the importance of the nonprofit sector to Canada's economic and social well being. Canada has long had a vibrant nonprofit sector that provides important services to help meet the needs of its citizens. Nonprofits work hard to make communities a better place by providing quality research, policy advice and front line services such as support services for the elderly and assistance for new immigrants as well as support for housing, education, the environment and the economy.
