From April through August of this year 13 focus groups were organized under the auspices of the Alberta Global Forum, The Calgary Counselling Centre, the Sheldon Chumir Foundation and the University of Calgary Students' Union in order to determine how the economic downturn is affecting postsecondary students and recent immigrants living in Calgary. In total 103 people participated in two-hour focus groups. Organizations who work with students and immigrants were contacted by the sponsoring committee and agreed to invite their clients to participate in the focus groups. Participation was completely voluntary and all participants were guaranteed anonymity.
