As researchers working in the context of the broader social economy, we wanted to learn more about social enterprises in British Columbia and Alberta, i.e., where they operate, what they hope to achieve, and how they chose to operate in the market. [...] This report is the first attempt to literally and figuratively map the location, purpose and operations of social enterprises in the two provinces. [...] In phase two, the survey was circulated to all social enterprises on the sample frame to achieve a large and fully representative sample of social enterprises in the two provinces. [...] Social Enterprises in BC and Alberta Of 295 confirmed social enterprises, 231 are in BC and 64 are in Alberta.
