The Labour Market Framework for Yukon : Comprehensive skills and trades training strategy

On behalf of the Premier and the Government of Yukon, I thank the members of the CSTTS Working Group for their commitment, energy and expertise throughout the development of this important document and the supporting Action Plan. [...] The Government of Yukon is committed to meeting the skills and trades training needs of Yukoners, so that they can engage meaningfully in the labour force and enjoy the best quality of life. [...] During the development of the strategy, we were aware of the challenges represented by the shortage of skilled labour, the cyclical nature of the economy and the changing labour market. [...] To orient the reader to the CSTTS, the terms used in the strategy are defined and the consultation processes by which the strategy was developed described. [...] A central component of the development of the strategy was the involvement of the Comprehensive Skills and Trades Training Working Group which included labour market stakeholders with in-depth knowledge of training issues and solutions.
