Array comparative genomic hybridization

21 Dec 2010

The intent is to provide a list of sources and a summary of the best evidence on the topic that CADTH could identify using all reasonable efforts within the time allowed. [...] SUMMARY OF FINDINGS Four publications were identified that examined the economics of aCGH compared to other diagnostic procedures.6-9 One report9 included evidence-based guidelines for the use of aCGH in clinical practice. [...] The authors state that these results support the conclusion that in the Canadian health care system, aCGH may increase the perceived welfare of society. [...] If aCGH was only provided in cases with a de Vries score of five or greater then the sensitivity of the test increases to 21.7%, the cost per positive case is reduced to £1,087, and the price per array needed to become cost neutral with respect to additional testing is reduced to £354. [...] The cost analysis was sensitive to both patient selection criteria and to the detection rate of the test.
