Through focus groups and in-depth interviews, the research sought to understand what contributes to housing choices of recent immigrants and the relationship of these choices to other variables such as employment, education, family size, proximity of services, social connections and social inclusion. [...] The study further sought to understand what brought recent immigrants to Winnipeg and the impact of housing in the settlement, integration and retention of recent immigrants to Winnipeg and vice-versa, and the impact of immigration on housing demand. [...] The study sought to learn: • What contributes to the housing choices (neighbourhood, availability, adequacy, appropriateness, quality and affordability) of recent immigrants and the relationship of these choices to other variables such as employment, education, family size, proximity of services, social connections and social inclusion. [...] This agreement allows the province to determine the level of Provincial Nominee arrivals and transfers funds from the federal government to allow the provinces to take on the responsibility of settlement services and integration.
