In the case of many of these substances, the critical exposure periods generally appear to be in utero, during early infancy and in some cases, during early childhood and adolescence. [...] Health Canada states that the re-evaluation program and revisions to the MRLs are applying modern assessment approaches including consideration of exposure risks in sensitive segments of the population, such as infants, children, pregnant women and the elderly; and combined exposure from dietary, residential and drinking water sources.
