An Economic Perspective The objective of this paper is to summarize the research done by the Centre for the Study of Living Standards (CSLS) on the economic impacts of improving levels of Aboriginal education. [...] The third section describes the methodology used and the key results obtained from the CSLS research on estimating the impact of closing the education gap on the Canadian economy and governments’ spending and revenues. [...] National estimates reflect the aggregation of all these estimates, and thus capture the effects of projected changes in the composition of the Canadian population (i.e. [...] While the Aboriginal share of working-age population growth between 2006 and 2026 is only 7.4 percent, the Aboriginal share of labour force growth over the same period is projected to be between 12.7 and 19.9 percent, and the Aboriginal share of employment growth between 11.3 and 22.1 percent.
