The Child and Youth Advocate directed most of his recommendations to the departments of Education, Health, Social Development and Public Safety, with some involving the Department of Justice and Consumer Affairs, the New Brunswick Legal Aid Services Commission as well as the Office of the Attorney General. [...] A significant step forward was the incorporation of the Child and Youth Advocate Act and the establishment of the Office of the Child and Youth Advocate as part of the existing Office of the Ombudsman. [...] Response and actions The government recognizes the importance of the advocacy role of the Office of the Child and Youth Advocate and continues to support its course of access to children and youth.
