[...] For cerebrovascular diseases, the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada and the Canadian Stroke Network have developed the Canadian Stroke Strategy to guide stroke care and rehabilitation, which is now being implemented in many parts of the country. [...] To create healthy environments, Canada can and should use • improve employment and working conditions a combination of education, legislation, regulation • reduce food insecurity and policy to promote healthy eating and physical • improve the built environment both to activity, to reduce smoking, and to address the encourage physical activity and to increase underlying “upstream” social inequities [...] Many of the “upstream” determinants of health require action beyond the health care system • improve access to early childhood education and the Canadian Heart Health Strategy and and care Action Plan.
