New state to sustained democracy

In the sixty years after its foundation, Israel has matured into a strong and stable democracy. No longer the exception that it once was, Israel now faces many of the same concerns of other mature democracies. Despite this, Israel's unique characteristics pose a constant challenge to its democracy. This brief overview highlights four main lessons that Israel's successful democracy can teach to other new states or emergent liberal societies.
