The sessions consisted, generally, of an overview of workforce trends in the health sector, demographic trends in the Aboriginal population, a review of project research, analysis, and recommendations, anticipated activities, the Career Pathing Advisor role, the career pathing process and components, factors to consider in the project’s implementation and next steps. [...] Utilizing information gathered for the concept paper provided the sub-committee the opportunity to strengthen, clarify and deepen the understanding of career pathing and to realize the goals of an effective, sustainable, qualified representative workforce through development and implementation of career pathing. [...] Partnership support for the concept paper enabled the project to move forward and in receipt of funding the sub-committee paved the way for the next steps in the project. [...] Some of the workshop objectives, as outlined in the promotional materials, include: • Opportunity to experience a number of selected activities; • Overview of the tasks of self-assessment, career exploration and decision making; • Examination of the career circle as a framework for collecting and effectively using relevant career possibilities; • Introduction to the concept of helping individuals [...] The sessions generally consisted of an overview of workforce trends in the health sector, demographic trends in the Aboriginal community and a review of the Labour Force and Training Needs Assessment, research and analysis, conclusions and recommendations.
