Canada Health Infoway 2003-2004 annual report

8 Jun 2004

Of key importance was the strong vote of confidence afforded to Infoway’s team and mandate when federal, provincial and territorial Deputy Ministers of Health unanimously endorsed Infoway's three- year business plan in September 2003 and reaffirmed that collaboration in the development and adoption of electronic health information systems is the way forward. [...] I take this opportunity to recognize Interim President and CEO, Myrna Francis, who on short notice accepted the challenge of moving to the executive role from the strategic planning portfolio to lead the process of redefining the business plan and retooling the organization, while working closely with the Board and the members of the corporation. [...] Just as many of today’s computers sport a sticker boasting of the brand of chip supplying the processing power, the hallmark of our organization is our power of partnership, generating solid contributions to the well-being of Canadians through provincial and territorial healthcare initiatives – with the work of Infoway Inside. [...] Infoway has adopted a three-tiered approach to ensure prudent stewardship of the principal amount: a) The existence of a Finance and Investment Committee of the Board which has developed invest- ment policies and performance objectives (see point b) for the unspent balance of the principal amount. [...] Appropriate passive benchmarks have been established by the Committee to measure the performance and added value of the total fund and of the individual managers in absolute and relative terms.
