It is a product of the Pan-Canadian Education Indicators Program (PCEIP), and is considered a companion report to the OECD’s Education at a Glance, which presents data for all OECD member countries, including Canada.1 The indicators presented in this 2016 edition align with a selection of indicators from the OECD’s 2016 report and were selected based on policy relevance and the availability of dat [...] The patterns for France, the United Kingdom and the United States were more similar to Canada’s, except that they all had much higher proportions at the doctoral level, and also for the master’s level in the United Kingdom. [...] The OECD average therefore refers to an average of data values at the level of the national systems and can be used to answer the question of how an indicator value for a given country compares with the value for a typical or average country. [...] Overall, the educational attainment of all individuals in the working-age population influences the competitiveness of economies and the prosperity of societies. [...] During the same period, the proportion of the same age group in OECD countries on average increased from 32 to 42 percent with the smallest increase in France (5 percentage points) and the largest in the United Kingdom (14 percentage points).
