The file information collected included data on: a) parenting arrangements and the application of best interests criteria; b) arrangements for the payment of child and spousal support; c) the extent of any conflict between the parties and the presence of family violence; and, d) the initial positions of the parties on the issues in dispute, and the nature of the final resolution of those issues. [...] The Canadian Research Institute for Law and the Family obtained Study data gathered in 2011 and 2012 from the Calgary registry of the Alberta Court of Queen’s Bench, with the goal of examining several dimensions of the divorce process when children are involved. [...] Figure 3.2 shows the age ranges of the women and men in the sample who filed statements of claim for divorce at the time of the disposition of their claims for divorce. [...] The average length of time elapsing from the filing of the statement of claim to the making of the first order, whether interim or final, was a little over one year, with an average of 3.2 years elapsing between the date of separation and the making of first order. [...] The total time elapsing between the date of filing the statement of claim and the date of the divorce judgement was 1.3 years on average.
