Pilot Study Results Acknowledgements The project team would like to acknowledge and thank the many individuals and organizations that contributed to the development of the Family/Friend Caregiver Survey. [...] Results reveal the emotional toll of caregiving, with the majority of respondents identifying emotional support as one of the most difficult and time consuming tasks they perform for their care receivers. [...] This decision resulted in the survey going beyond the traditional assessment of caregiver needs to focussing on the relationship between these needs and the services and supports provided at the provincial level. [...] Despite its length, the majority of caregivers who started the survey (61%) completed it (N=302), and 90% of those took the time to provide lengthy responses to the last three qualitative questions. [...] Key Finding: Data from the Oberst and Bakas Scales reveal the emotional toll of caregiving, with the majority of respondents identifying emotional support as a task that is both time consuming and difficult to provide to care receivers.
