[...] The Guideline explores the relationships among and between students and nursing educatorsG, nursing staff, preceptors, and diverse health-care team members, and it considers their influence on the quality of practice education, professional socialization, and nursing excellence. [...] Whether they occur in clinical practice environments or in the context of a simulated clinical lab, practice education experiences are pivotal to nursing students’ learning and professional socialization, and to the reduction of the theory-practice gapG (Canadian Nurses Association, 2004). [...] The expert panel identified the key mandates and some related challenges of each of the bodies influencing quality practice education, and it utilized these as a means of guiding the literature review and framing the recommendations. [...] Summary The nursing student requires a myriad of elements to be aligned in order to successfully experience quality practice education, including the ongoing collaboration between educational institutions, service agencies, and the policy- and decision-makers who oversee legislation and regulation of the profession.
