The purpose of this technical document is to provide guidance on the requirements of the Hazardous Products Act (HPA) and the Hazardous Products Regulations (HPR) to suppliers of hazardous products destined for Canadian workplaces. A supplier is defined in the HPA as “…a person who, in the course of business, sells or imports a hazardous product.” This guidance also provides suppliers with information on the Hazardous Materials Information Review Act (HMIRA) and its regulations and the mechanism to protect confidential business information (CBI) while still disclosing critical hazard information to workers.
