Thm statistics of industrial ernployrnont, payrolls and average weekly earnings given for the provinces and the larger centres of population in the following pages, conplement the composite figures for those areas 1 and data for Canada published in March, 1951, in the bulletin entitled "nploynent, Payrolls and Average eekly Vages and Salaries, 1947-1950". [...] The material in that bulletin and in the present report was obtained in a retabulation of the original monthly returns from establishments usually employing 15 persons and over, grouped according to the Canadian Standard Industrial Classification, and computed on the 1939 averages as 100. [...] In most cases, the general figures relate to substantial proportions of the total wage-earners and salaried enployees on the payrolls of all industrial establishnents in the the provinces and metropolitan areas.
