[...] In the context of this project, landscape ecology is defined as the study of the interaction between landscape structure (its composition and configuration) and the processes that determine the abundance and distribution of species. [...] Naturally, implementation of the actions identified in the conservation plan entails a variety of conservation and habitat restoration options and rests on the involvement of local partners and stakeholders (municipalities, RCMs, etc.) in the context of policies, laws and regulations that may have an impact on the land. [...] Some municipalities were excluded in the western part in order to limit the study area at the head of Lake Saint-Pierre, but the industrial centre of Sorel-Tracy and all the islands of the Berthier-Sorel archipelago have been preserved.
